Sylvie Fleury, Tableau n*1, 1992While we’re on the topic of Mondrian today, I adore this Fleury at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Like Eva Hesse’s reaction against the dominant masculine aesthetics in Minimalism, Fleury may also be seen to rethink the vocabulary of abstraction by staging a confrontation between mediums and even reinvest and reanimate the older narrative of de Stijl with a haptic feminine sensibility.
